Aspiration: Climb the mountain of life
Aspiration involves having a will to succeed and a desire to achieve. It involves having hopes and dreams for the future and striving to be your best self.
When we think of aspiration, we often think of a vision – can you picture what your future may look like?
Some people think of aspiration as ‘reaching for the stars’ or ‘dreaming big’. When we value aspiration, we think that having a vision of what you’d like your future to be like – and working towards that vision – is very important!
Connection: There’s always someone right around the corner
We have lots of connections in everyday life. You’re connected to your family, your teachers, your friends – everyone you meet and talk to is connected to you.
To value connection is to understand that meeting and working with different people is very important. By connecting with other people in your community, you’re able to work together and help each other to do things you wouldn’t necessarily be able to do by yourself.
If there’s something you want to do but you’re not quite sure how to do it yourself, there will be someone out there with the knowledge and ability to help you work it out!
These days, we’re able to create connections with people in the real world but also online. This creates the opportunity to learn from many different people in many different ways, and to connect with people who may not live close to you.
Resilience: Don’t be afraid to fall, just make sure you get back on the rock.
Resilience involves being able to overcome challenges in achieving your dreams. It’s often thought of as ‘bouncing back’ – if something knocks you down, resilience involves being able to get back up and continue on your journey!
When we value resilience, we think it’s important to be able to push through challenging situations. Life isn’t always easy, but that doesn’t mean we should give up!
It’s important to think about how you can bounce back in a difficult situation. Resilience is saying to yourself ‘I can do this’ and understanding that although things don’t always go to plan, you can still reach your goals by pushing through hard times.
